Onstage

The OnStage competition (formerly called Dance) challenges teams to develop creative stage performance using autonomous robots they designed, built and programmed.

The goal is to create a 1 to 2 minute robotic performance that uses technology to engage the audience. The challenge has no limits, as it includes a whole range of possible presentations, such as robot dancing, storytelling, theater with robots or an art installation. The performance can involve music, but this is optional.

Teams are encouraged to be creative, innovative and fun, both in robot design and overall stage performance. The presentation can involve up to two team members on stage at the same time, but this is optional. The emphasis should be on robotic performance and not human performers.

All team members must be between 14 and 19 years old (as of July 1st).

The teams are evaluated in the following areas: technical demonstration, technical interview, OnStage performance and a technical description of the robots.
